Review of Gemini of Emreiana By Kristen DaRay

I received this book for an honest review. This story is told through the eyes of Carson a young 18 year old. She lives in a small town in Alice and lives a normal life. Until she finds out she’s from another planet called Emreiana, where she will take the throne and bond with a fellow Gemini in marriage.
The story is based on Earth letting us see Carson discover who she really is, and understanding that she must let go of all she loves including her boyfriend Klye, But Aaronmon a protector of the royal family is there to ease her transition.
Even though the story is based on earth, it’s still very intriguing we learn all about the new planet Emreiana, they have their own language and are very advanced in technology. Also the people of Emreiana are born with certain gifts that fall’s into four categories. The world of Emreiana sounds so beautiful with its three moons that dictate’s the time of year.
The story is very well written and I can’t wait to read the second book, which will be based in Emreiana and we can start to see Carson in her true settings.

Question: What have you published recently?
Recently I have published Gemini of Emreiana. It is the first in the Gemini series. It’s about making tough choices when it means you have to give up people you love.

If I take the crown, I have to leave behind everything I have known here on Earth. I would have to say goodbye to my friends and leave behind Kyle, the boy I’ve loved since I was five. If I don’t, then I risk the Bremoir finding me here on Earth and destroying everything I love.
Question: How, and when, did you decide to become a writer?
I have been writing since the 6th grade. I won a contest for my county in writing and realized then that I had a talent. However, I didn’t start to write fiction till I was 15. It was then that I realized that I wanted to be a writer. I started writing a vampire novel. I never finished it because of the huge vampire craze that took over the population but I still have most of the chapters for people to read. After that, there was a project I started with a friend. Due to various reasons, it was never finished either. It was a year after that, that I had an idea that would be the beginning of the Gemini series. I didn’t start writing it until 2011 and finished it that summer. All the major edits came in 2012 when I decided that I would self publish rather than search for an agent.

Question: What is a typical day like for you as a writer?
Because I’m still in college my typical day is pretty busy- especially if you add the fact that I have a PT job. Basically, I go to classes in the morning. I usually sometimes have an hour or two in between class and work. That is my writing time. I write about 1k words during that time or as much as I can before I have to leave.
Question: What are your favorite characters that you have created? Tell us about them.
I love all of my characters, good and bad, so this makes it difficult. I really enjoyed Aunt Trish. She had a wiry personality that was really fun!
Question: do you find you “mentally edit” other writers’ works as you read them? Does doing this help you or bother you?
Maybe grammatically, but never about their story- unless it was just really terribly written.
Question: What music do you listen to, while writing?
It depends on the work I am writing. I have a playlist built for each book. J
Question: What do you eat while writing?
I don’t usually eat while I am writing. I like to stay healthy so I know if I eat while I am being a couch potato and writing, I’m bound to gain a few unwanted pounds…. Plus I never had the desire to eat while I am writing.
