Featured Author Mark E. Lein ~ An Emerging Threat

Image

Synopsis:

An evil stirs, casting a shadow across the Islands. Two men begin quests to find the source of the darkness. One is a young scholar, given no choice but to follow the path ahead. Tragedy shapes him, nearly driving him to despair; an inner struggle pervades his journey. The other is a warrior forced to the task through a sense of responsibility. His royal blood and his knighthood drive his course. Their searches, though separate, have the same goal: to find whatever or whoever may be responsible for the darkening of their world. This book tells the story of their journey and the creatures, both friend and foe, that they meet along the way.

REVIEW OF DAMAGED BY AUTHOR BECCA VINCENZA

Damaged

Rating: 5 stars

MY REVIEW:

I just loved Damaged ( book one of the Rebirth Series)

Audrey is a broken young woman, who has been locked in a white room for over four years. Her torment and anguish of her time alone leaps off the pages. Becca Vincenza did a masterful job of taking us inside the mind of Audrey and showing us how damaged and how far the mind can bend, in the worst possible way.

A group of men come to save (or not to save) Audrey from her white room and take her into the outside world. Her reaction to human contact down to hearing someone’s voice or feeling someone’s touch was once again amazingly written.

Stone one of the group members feels very protective of Audrey straight away and sees her in a different light then what is painted even for us the reader. Hearing of her scarred face, and damaged mind she was interesting but I couldn’t see the attraction to be honest, but as the story developed I could see what Stone saw in her. A beautiful young women who was strong, loving and above all willing to believe in good, even against all she went through, and as we find out exactly why Audrey was kept in the white room and tortured for so many years, the story lifts off and we are launched into a detailed and well thought out paranormal world that’s at war with different paranormal clans.

Nixie who befriends Audrey I  just loved she was like a ray of sunshine, her wit and sharp but weird comebacks to others where really funny. 🙂

Another character I just loved was the wraith Elijah, and want to know more about him, I fear him and love him,  all at the same time. 🙂

Overall a very well written story. A damaged girl written amazingly and characters that are so unique and interesting. For this authors first novel she should be applauded. Just brilliant. Well done and can’t wait for book two.

Head Reviewer @ The Violet Hour Book Reviews: http://theviolethourbookreviews.wordp…

Oh jeez…do you know how many people I told I didn’t want to write this? So here is the one my friend made me:

Becca Vincenza lives in wonderful Michigan. She has a love for Skittles, rainbows, Star Wars, *giggles* and Hot Men. She spends time in her basement with Airicka… Apparently that’s where the best ideas come from.

Any who….she loves meeting new people, so feel free to message her on Facebook and friend her on Goodreads!

Although her phone number will not be given out because, well…she doesn’t like heavy breathing.

So a sort of serious one: For real, I am a geek. I grew up watching Star Wars, and my father read Lord of the Rings to us, along with the C. S. Lewis series. I love to write. In all honesty, it took me a lot of work to get where I am today and I don’t regret a moment of it. Reading and writing are honestly the best things ever. I couldn’t be happier that my parents put me through so much extra help. Anyways! Me, me, me…. Huh…I love paranormal stuff…Love it.

I’m a reader and enjoy finding new indie authors to follow – there are so many good ones out there! I’m fairly new to posting reviews but I do try to be fair and honest and will not post anything less than 3 stars, as if it is not at least that good I just won’t finish it.

Featured Author Heather Dowell ~ Summers and Winters

Image

Synopsis:

What happens when two teenagers that like each other wind up living in the same house? Things get complicated. When Mitch & Heather decide to pursue a relationship, they find out that it won’t be simple. If anyone finds out, Heather may be forced to move. And what makes the situation even more difficult is that girls are constantly flirting with Mitch. Will they be able to keep their relationship a secret, or will they be caught?
**
Mitch comes hurdling down the stairs as I go inside to grab a bag of chips. “Miss me already?” he smiles wryly.
I shake my head, “No, Mr. Conceited. I came in for some chips.”
“Is that so?” he asks raising his eyebrows. “I think I can help you get some chips.” He pulls the pantry door shut and all of the air seems to have been sucked out of the room. He drops the football and bag of chips then swiftly entangles his hand in my hair before wrapping an arm firmly around my waist and dipping me. If I wasn’t complete breathless before, I am now. His lips lock with mine and my stomach tightens uncontrollably as every cell in my body is awakened by his kiss. It ends too quickly and he raises me up slowly while stroking my neck with his thumb. “I can’t wait to have you alone,” Mitch whispers softly before releasing me.
The door opens abruptly. I take in a sharp breath before sighing with relief. “I’m just getting some paper plates,” Brian tells us.
“Chips,” Mitch offers as he bends down to pick up the bag he dropped.
“Right,” Brian accuses, looking me over. “I guess that’s why Heather’s still blushing?” I put my hand on my cheek. Am I really blushing? Mitch gives Brian a death stare. Brian punches him lightly on the shoulder. “Relax, man. I know already. Remember?”
Mitch lets out a sigh allowing his shoulders to relax. “Sorry, I just don’t like that we’re so obvious.”
“You’re not that obvious, Mitch. It’s only when you’re caught in a closed closet that it becomes undeniably obvious.” Brian bends down to pick up the football and some paper plates then walks outside.
“Brian has a point,” I say to Mitch. “As much as I wanna kiss you every second of the day, we have got to be more careful.”
“We’ll figure it out.” Mitch says caressing my cheek with his free hand, before giving me a quick kiss on the forehead and walking out the door. I follow a few steps behind him.
**
“Mitch, was this your idea,” I ask him. He smiles a wicked grin. “You suck!” I shout running up to him and tackling him on the hood of Sammy’s truck. “Look who’s covered in mud now?” Five more cars pull up and Mitch and I are cover in mud. “There’s more?! What’d you do, invite the entire football team?!”
“Maybe,” Mitch says taking a handful of mud and smearing it onto my stomach.
“No you didn’t!” I say climbing on to the hood of the truck in my bikini and daisy duke shorts. I take a hand full and throw it at him. I hit him in the chest.
“Look what you did now,” he says, then takes off his shirt as I scoot back to the windshield. “You can’t get away from me that easily,” he says climbing up on the hood. I throw more mud at him and he retaliates by tickling me and then putting mud in my hair. He’s hovering over me now and I’m trapped beneath him. Something about being covered in mud on the hood of Sammy’s truck with him is utterly romantic. I take two handfuls of mud and rub them into his hair. “I can do that too,” I tell him. Then I smear some on his face and wrap my legs around him, pinning him to me so that he can’t get away.
I smear dirt slowly onto his face and everything seems to still as he looks at me. Every sound, everyone in the background disappears. It’s only me and him. Nothing else matters. I bring my mud covered hands up to his neck. He just watches me like nothing else exists, like I’m the only thing in his world. Everything is in slow motion as I run my hands down his chest with mud. He moans softly then comes to his knees bringing me with him, before Stacy throws a big clump of mud at his back.
