Monday’s Review of Half- Blood by Author Jennifer L. Armentrout

9680718

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi pure bloods have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals–well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem–staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Well, mostly. When she’s not hard at work writing, she spends her time, reading, working out, watching zombie movies, and pretending to write.

Review of Half Blood

Rating: 4 stars

I read some other reviews regarding this book and the amount of people that suggested it was like Vampire Academy, had me curious. Yes it was but it was also unique in its own way.

Alex the main character is a fighter, on the run with her mother, she’s a half blood protector of the pure’s, but when she runs into trouble with daimons her mother is killed and she’s saved by the pure’s one being Aiden. Wow is hot. J

I loved Alex’s dry sense of humour her smart mouth and her drive. She’s like a disobedient child when someone says go left she will go right. But it’s fun to read, as she trained by Aiden who is forbidden to the likes of her. Half bloods and pure’s are not allowed to be together, and it’s tough as they train the feelings she has for Aiden grow stronger.

She also has some awful people to deal with like Lea who’s nothing but a bitch, but Alex ends up breaking her nose and I loved it. It was so deserving to hell with the consequences. Then there’s Lucian her step-father who is the worst parent of all.

But Alex is also surround by some really cool people like Caleb her best friend who ISN’T in love with her, and I appreciated this so much in the book. Majority of male best friends are in love with the MC. So this was a breath of fresh air.

The love story between Aiden and Alex is electric but for me I loved Seth the Apollyon, he was rude yet cool, sounded gorgeous but towards the end of the book we got to see a nice side of him. (well kind of). 🙂

Overall really enjoyed this story it was non-stop action in every department and I love a MC with a sarcastic mouth.

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there’s this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that’s possible. Against all common sense, I’m falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Review of Onyx

After reading Obsidian I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second book, and I wasn’t disappointed.

Katy is now connected to Daemon after he heals from an attack by the Arum. They keep up their usual sarcasm but Daemon wants Katy to see that he wants her, because he those and it’s not the connection. Katy being Katy doesn’t believe a word of it. So we watch Daemon try to swoop Katy off her feet.

Soon after Blake shows up and I must say straight away I didn’t like him I just got bad vibes, but when he freezes time in the café when their attached by an Arum, we learn more about the connection that Katy has formed with Daemon.

In book two we get to meet members of DOD who we believe are there to keep an eye on the Luxian’s but soon we learn that isn’t the case. The plot in book two delves deeper and soon it’s not just the Luxian’s lives on the line but Katy’s also.

I must say she makes some stupid calls, like with BLAKE I really wanted to smack her across the head, but it just makes the story more intriguing and I must say it kept me on the edge of my seat. Once again the love story was amazing. My favourite thing in this book, was when every time Daemon either spoke to Blake or spoke about him, he would call him every other name then Blake, I really thought it was hilarious. I was giggling away to myself no matter where I was, earning plenty of weird stares. But I just loved it.

The end leaves off at a very high point and now I need book three. Here we go again.

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Review of Obsidian

Rating: 5 stars

Before I even start with my review I just have to say that I loved this book it was just awesome, I laughed so much through it, that my jaws where sore.

Katy is a nerd, no other way to word it, she loves books her blog and they seem to be her life, until her mother ships her West Virginia. Her father had died from cancer and her mother felt they needed to start over.

Katy is a serious blusher and when she meets the neighbours next door, the fun starts. Daemon is drop dead gorgeous with a fit body and a sculptured face, but his mouth is another story. Katy lands on his door step unable to speak as she takes in his half naked body, but Daemon soon makes her close it by saying something sarcastic and sharp and so their relationship begins with this tone. It’s so funny I just loved the sarcasm and insults that seemed to flow so naturally between these two and then we meet Dee, Daemon’s sister, she a slice of sunshine.

Starting off senior year in a new school is hard enough but having Daemon in her Trig class just makes it so much harder. You can see from the start that something is very off about Dee and Daemon and we soon discover that they are aliens from another planet and they are entirely made from light. It’s actually really cool and something I myself found to be new and refreshing.

As the story rolls on so those danger and Katy soon finds herself been drawn into another world that she didn’t even know existed. The romance in this story was what did it for me, and I nearly cried when it ended wanted book two like now.

Overall a great read and one that I would highly recommend.
