Author Bio:

A.J. Norfield lives with his loving family on land but below sea level. He tries not to worry too much about climate change and the melting of the polar ice caps. His wife and two rascals of children keep him engaged and grounded in life while he pursues goals of publishing a story that has been stuck in his head for years.

As a longtime forest and mountain enthusiast, he often wonders about his flat surroundings and how to escape them. In his free time, if available at all, he enjoys a wide variety of gaming, reading/writing, drawing and socializing. His interest in (dragon-fantasy) novels has followed him throughout his life ever since he was young enough to read. It was this interest—with a number of broken nights thanks to his daughter’s sleeping schedule—that eventually lead to his current undertaking to write his own dragon-fantasy series ‘The Stone War Chronicles’ and put it out into the world.

Inspired by established names like Anne McCaffrey, Terry Goodkind and Naomi Novik—to name only a few of many—he is ready to show the world what he has to offer.

Far away from home, under the command of his brother, Raylan and his squad must retrieve an ancient relic stolen from their kingdom’s trading partner—the Tiankong Empire.

Traveling deep into unknown enemy territory to complete their mission, Raylan learns that the ancient relic holds unexpected life; a creature buried in legends, one not seen in their world for more than two hundred years.

With their enemies closing in, Raylan and his friends search, desperately, for a safe way home. Danger lurks around every corner: Warriors larger than any man, predators stalking them through the night and soldiers determined to hunt them down. Leaving them all little choice, except to keep moving as they strategically plot—and skillfully fight—their way back to those awaiting their return.

Blurb:  When magic and mystery become a part of adult memory, and children only know the hushed whispers in dark corners, people expect trouble at every turn.

For Gin, her safety relies on those dark corners and the danger of the grimy British streets. Magic and fantasy are a long buried dream; until she meets the candle-maker. Thrust into his secretive world with just a sullen, shadowy guide for company, Gin clings to the edges until the heavily guarded line between life and fantasy blurs.

As she chases her inevitable future to escape the echo of what lies behind, the world and all she knew of it becomes one final step into the unknown.

About the Author:

I’m an almost-graduate of the English Language and Communications and Literature, half-Finnish, half Londoner – I’ve loved stories and writing them since the age of nine. I currently live on the glorious south coast of Britain near to Brighton with the rain, the pebbles and the seagull invasion. I like all the usual person description hobbies that people put in these things, including but not limited to pole dancing, skittles (the candy not the game) and yelling at the television when the touring cars come on.

Image

Blurb:

Sixteen-year-old Sydlynn Hayle is the daughter of a powerful witch and a demon lord of the seventh plane. The trouble is, she just wants to be ordinary. Syd struggles to survive the minefield of her new high school while being torn between her attraction to football hero Brad Peters and the darkly mysterious Quaid Moromond. When her coven comes under attack, Syd is forced to face the fact only her power can save her family’s magic.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I write a lot of middle grade and YA paranormal books for someone who is afraid of the dark. And I wonder why I have to sleep with the lights on. Sometimes life is a teenaged B horror movie and I’m the one who investigates when the scary music is playing. But the voices are calling and resistance is… Yes. I am a Star Trek geek, too. And a fan of RPG’s. With a slight coolness factor since I’ve been told I’m allowed to join the pops.

Naw. I like being a nerdy girl 🙂

Review of Family Magic

Rating: 4 stars

www.reviewoffantasy.com

The story is told through the eyes of Syd, at first I found her to be really, really annoying and wanted to smack her across the head but as I turned each page I could see why she would be so upset and crying all the time. Her mother being the head of a very powerful coven wasn’t enough she also had a father as a demon. All Syd seemed to want was to be normal. I felt sorry for her in school always being bullied by Alison and her clan. But Syd found peace playing football that her mother managed to destroy too without knowing, so I could see where all Syd’s frustration came from and to top that off she had her sisters meen’s to think of and a crazy grandmother.

When Quaid and his parents arrive in town to join the coven things start to get very interesting and very complicated and the only one that Syd has to talk to is her Cat Sassy who was a know it all, but I enjoyed their banter.

Syd is kind, brave but also a bit spoilt here and there, and her choice in boys is awful. I HATED brad what an idiot. I couldn’t stand him at all he was so dull it was painful like watching paint dry. Quaid would so be my choice even if he was a jerk at times but I think in book two she will give into him and stay away from brad.

The mixture of paranormal creatures was cool and I loved Uncle Frank and Sunny the vampires they added a nice amount of fun to the story.

The Plot was strong but I knew very quickly who was behind the attacks, the only one I couldn’t figure out was the dog, I had someone pinned but got it wrong so it was a good surprise.

Overall an interesting read minus BRAD. I would recommend this book to all fantasy paranormal readers.
